If you are like me, outraged at Wall Street’s 18.4 billion in bonuses for failed executives, then do something about it.
If you have not heard about the 18.4 billion, then read about it at this New York Times article or just google it, it is everywhere, like this NYTimes Opinion column by Maureen Dowd.
Everyone that I talk to is outraged about it, now it is time to do something about it, right here.
Below is a template letter for you to send to your senator.
The links to all 100 senators’ email forms are below as well, so you can just cut and paste and send it to them.
Here is what I sent to my senator, please do the same.
Dear Senator,
I am outraged at the 18.4 billion in bonuses paid to Wall Street executives. Please enact a law to have the executives return the bonuses now! Use the money to fund the unemployment benefits fund.
Signed,
An outraged citizen.
This is the link to the US Senate contact information.
To support this cause, please link to this post on your blog.
Thank you!
Outraged.
It’s about time! Thanks for taking action.

The e-mail campaigns to elected officials is a good start, but there must be more that can be. Would it be possible to publish the names of the executives and the amounts of the bonuses. Public attention directed at the individuals might get results.

A lot of the information is out there in different places, might be a good idea to have it all in one place…hmmm… let’s see what can be done. If you seen any article with this kind of information, please feel free to post a link here in a comment. I’ll consolidate in a permanent post.

Just a quick note. I like your ambition and willingness to try and change the world. However, if you plan on sending a letter to your senator pleading for change or fighting for your cause, consider checking for grammatical errors and spelling mistakes. Nice cause, just a little lacking in execution….

Thank you for this. I am also eager to get the word to President Obama that wagging his finger on TV is no way to get in the driver’s seat on this or anything. I supported him for election because he’s smart, reads history, listens, cares more than the average person and is politically skilled. Any one of those is an improvement.
But Obama did not get all his campaign funds from regular walking-around people. The number of donors was astronomical, but the amount was dwarfed by the money that came from Wall Street. (I regret that I cannot furnish links or cite sources for this; if anyone can, I’d like to know about them.)
So, I’m all for Obama, and for the much-bullied Democratic Congress, but it is not acceptable for one instant to hand money over to hucksters. We know they are hucksters. They have always been hucksters.
Yes, banks should lend and borrow, period. And if we fund the banks, we ARE the banks. Let the government run the banks — Obama’s guys say the government isn’t much of a banker, but compared to the guys running the banks now, heck, EYE could do the job — and get on with it. These guys are standing in the way of world peace, an end to poverty and disease, freaking national health care (that socialist scheme that wouldn’t work if the government ran it — kind of like Medicare compared to the bandit “health insurance” companies whose job it is to NOT allow medical care, but to keep money over to pay the stockholders), education that is more about learning to think critically than about passing a test…
Oh, I could go on and on. But has anyone had any inkling that something posted to Obama websites ever get read or considered by him? Where’s the communication?
And thank you for your efforts. I really appreciate it.

WE need our President and senators to wake up and make sure this new package has The Buy American clause. Executives should not be able to use our tax dollars to line their pockets. Working men and women are losing jobs everyday how does the President and senators expect them to buy homes, cars etc with no paycheck coming in. Americans need the TARP money sent directly to them in form of a stimulas check so they can pay bills and buy things
